Volunteer Network to Help CPAs Affected by Hurricane Katrina
September 23, 2005

To date, 221 firms across the country have signed on to offer assistance in the form of housing, office space, office supplies, technology support, hosting of email servers, help with critical filings, support in reaching clients and even temporary employment to Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi CPAs.

“Thousands of CPAs throughout the Gulf Coast have had their lives and livelihoods turned upside down by Hurricane Katrina,” said James C. Metzler, Vice President- Small Firm Interests at the AICPA.

“Our mission is to mobilize CPA firms throughout the country. The response has been tremendous.”

CPAs seeking help may go to the Firm Volunteer Center at http://pcps.aicpa.org/community/Hurricane+Katrina.html
and search for contact information on firms offering the particular assistance they need. CPA firms interested in volunteering should visit the site and complete a brief form indicating which forms of assistance they would like to offer.
