Sensitive Employee Relations Issues
Description
The presentation will begin with an overview of the more sensitive issues that HR professionals face in the workplace, including ADA issues, personal hygiene, workplace relationships, and leave issues. ADA issues will include mental health issues, sensitive disabilities, reasonable accommodation and the ADA association provision. Workplace relationships will include domestic violence, workplace relationships, public displays of affection and other related issues. Leave issues will include the discussion of bereavement leave and leave for medical issues of a sensitive nature. Within each area, the presentation will address relevant laws that apply to employers and discuss best practices. The presenter will provide examples and guidance regarding creating and updating handbook policies within each area and how to properly train managers and supervisors to handle these issues as they arise since these individuals are often the first people that employees deal with on these issues.
