A big THANK YOU to Deloitte for another great HSCPA celebration! A fun evening filled with scrumptious food, mind-blowing entertainment, lots of libations, and warm camaraderie. It's always nice catching up with old friends and colleagues. Happy 87th, HSCPA!
It's a renewal year and many rushed to fulfill the requirement early . . . and sold out the Conference! This year, the Team HSCPA Avengers battled the group and challenged their intelligence and memory. Despite the somewhat 'serious' program, attendees "cracked up" during lunch as legendary comedian, Frank De Lima, delighted the crowd with his humor! The Conference ended pau hana Friday with Happy Hour sponsored by CPACharge. Thank you to our wonderful sponsors: American Savings Bank - our Corporate lunch sponsor; CPACharge for Happy Hour, and our returning partners: ADP, Ceridian, Mutual of America and Thomson Reuters!
Happy 86th to HSCPA! Members gathered to enjoy fellowship and magic with magician Santos Kidd and music by David Asing. Mahalo to our Corporate Sponsor, Deloitte, for the incredible support of the HSCPA!
It was Jumanji mania in accounting at the 58th Annual Conference on June 22, 2018 at the Prince Waikiki. From the traditional HSCPA opening to an informative professional issues update by AICPA past chair Tim Christen to data and cyber security with Nick Graf ... and that was only the first half of the Conference! A fulfilling and ono lunch buffet was sponsored by long-time corporate sponsor, American Savings Bank - thank you, Gabe Lee! The installation of the the 2018-2019 officers and directors was handled by the 'lion tamer and leader of the pack', Tim Christen. Thank you to all for being good sports and tame animals! Heavy-duty afternoon sessions included Chris Van Marter, senior deputy prosecuting attorney, who outlined how certain financial fraud cases were committed in Hawaii - unbelievable! Wrapping up the Conference were our expert Tax Trio: Ron Heller, Kurt Kawafuchi and Tom Yamachika - who always deliver timely and useful information.
MAHALO to our sponsors: American Savings Bank, ADP, Ceridian, Mutual of America and Thomson Reuters for their continued support of the HSCPA!
Happy Birthday, HSCPA! The Hawaii Society of CPAs was incorporated in October of 1932. On August 23, 2017, members ranging from Millennials to the Greatest Generation came together to celebrate HSCPA’s 85th anniversary at the Prince Waikiki. It was a time of reminiscing, meeting up with former co-workers, college acquaintances, former HSCPA leadership, and welcoming new members.
A big MAHALO to our major sponsor, Deloitte, for their commitment to making a difference in the profession through its support of the scholarship program and the new generation of young professionals!
This year, the HSCPA coordinated it’s Give Back Day with Earth Day to celebrate the environment and raise public awareness about pollution. Making a difference in the community that we all live and play in is a given and it takes working together for this common goal. On Saturday, April 22nd, about 50 Y-CPA professionals and students from UH Manoa and HPU gathered at Ala Moana Beach Park for HSCPA’s annual Give Back Day. While the weather forecast did not seem promising, we were committed to following through with this event which was rescheduled from April. It turned out to be a beautiful day!
We broke out into groups to play Gimme Gimme to see which team could find specific trash items in the Magic Island area. Everyone returned with a lot of interesting trash. Congratulations to Team Siete from HPU!
Our special thanks to the volunteers and our sponsor, Robert H.Y. Leong & Company, CPAs! Mr. Leong and his firm have been our biggest supporter of this community service project for many years – we appreciate it very much!
The Y-CPAs are proud of its commitment to community service and invite others to join in the support. Let’s beautify our surroundings. Be kind to the environment and those around you by picking up trash when you see it lying around. It doesn't matter who left it there, just pick it up!
