We’re looking for a Commercial Property Controller who wants more than a traditional accounting role. What You’ll Lead
Financial Leadership & Reporting Excellence
• Own the full financial reporting lifecycle for a multi‑state commercial portfolio.
• Deliver accurate, timely GAAP‑compliant financials and insightful variance analyses.
• Present financial results directly to executive leadership and clients.
• Champion system improvements using MRI, Oracle Fusion, and automation tools.
Strategic Budgeting & Forecasting
• Lead the annual budgeting process for all properties and corporate entities.
• Partner with asset management and operations to build data‑driven forecasts.
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities that shape strategic decisions and capital planning.
Compliance, Controls & Audit Management
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure financial integrity across the portfolio.
• Manage internal and external audits with confidence and precision.
• Support tax filings and regulatory reporting with accuracy and timeliness.
Team Leadership & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
• Lead and develop a high‑performing accounting team.
• Foster a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with property management, leasing, and executive teams to drive operational excellence.
Operational & Process Optimization
• Enhance accounting workflows through automation and best practices.
• Oversee GL, AP/AR, CAM reconciliations, lease administration, and tenant billing.
• Support seamless onboarding and offboarding of property transactions.
What You Bring
Education & Credentials
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA or CMA strongly preferred; MBA a plus.
Experience
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role within commercial real estate or property management.
• Proven expertise in property accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
• Demonstrated success leading teams and improving accounting processes.
Technical Strengths
• Advanced proficiency with MRI, Oracle Fusion, and Excel.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, ASC 842, and real estate financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills.
Leadership Qualities
• Confident communicator who can translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
