This workshop will equip participants with the tools necessary to advise new entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their new business. This course will provide the framework for participants to consult with an entrepreneur in making decisions on structuring a new business, obtaining capital, hiring employees, and surviving and thriving in that critical first three years.

Objectives
After completing this course the participants will be able to:
- Describe the relative advantages and disadvantages of building a business from the ground up, acquiring a franchise, or purchasing and existing business.
- Describe the costs to a new business in leasing space, operating out of the home, or operating only online.
- Describe the tax benefits and costs in operating their own business.
- Describe the pitfalls to be avoided in hiring employees versus engaging independent contractors.
