Richard Paul (Rich)

Richard has over 18 years of experience and leads Deloitte's travel, hospitality and leisure U.S. audit practice. He has broad capabilities in dealing with complex global organizations on SEC reporting matters, acquisition accounting and due diligence projects, and general finance and business advisory services. Richard delivers high-quality, well-coordinated integrated audit and advisory services. Richard is a collaborative leader whose strengths include proactive communication, vast experience consulting on challenging and unique transactions, and deep travel, hospitality and leisure industry experience.

Prior to joining the NJ audit practice in 2011, Richard was a partner in Deloitte's national office as a subject matter expert on topics such as the accounting for revenue recognition, income taxes, and business combinations. Richard is a frequent speaker on financial reporting and emerging accounting topics and often consults with Deloitte's largest clients on complex accounting and financial reporting issues. Richard recently completed a three year term as chairman of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant's Financial Reporting Executive Committee and currently chairs the AICPA's hospitality revenue recognition task force. Richard also recently completed a two-year assignment with the Financial Accounting Standards Board as a practice fellow. 

Richard graduated from Baruch College with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting. He is a CPA in the states of New York and Connecticut and is member of the AICPA. Richard is also the treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Big Brother and Big Sisters of northern NJ.
